"There is nothing in the world so monstrously vast as our indifference."
The Leviathan. Mentioned in the Holy Bible as an enormous sea monster before which all human efforts to resist and fight are futile, it is also the name of a book by English philosopher and political theorist Thomas Hobbes where he describes his views of what an ideal State ought to resemble: a powerful force of nature, resistance against which was to be be futile and swiftly dealt with, and that if all bowed before and contributed to the establishment of the powerful state, that organization would in turn secure the well-being of all who were part of it. Through collective effort and collective good, security and long-term prosperity would be assured, with the only alternative being anarchy, death and utter chaos.
Statelessness in Hobbes's view could not provide one’s safety, prosperity and well-being, what he proposed instead was a Commonwealth, a state or “A Great Leviathan”, a collective order, that all men would render themselves under its authority and would bring prosperity and security to all. Hobbes, however, was wrong.
The Leviathan state whose authority all shall willingly (or not) surrender themselves to turned out to be amongst one of the most horrific monstrous entities ever to be inflicted on mankind, order and total unity within itself is no granter for universal common good. A state or organization with an efficient bureaucracy can just as well use that same bureaucracy to erase and persecute those they deem to be a threat or non-compliant. An organization of laws is only worth as much as its laws are worth, and the Leviathan that is (or tries to be) the Club Penguin Armies organization as well as a considerable portion of its constituent armies and community officials is one that has failed in nearly every single aspect.
The Elite Guardians are an army that has historically taken a stand against the status quo, of challenging the narrative of those powerful few who believe themselves to be untouchable, as it shows when we became one of the first armies to boycott Club Penguin Online for it’s nefarious actions, or when we rilled the community against the RPF whose size and power had made them forget humility, or even our current rivalry with the deluded and two-faced ACP. No matter what tyrannical figure, group or ideal stood before us, we would always raise our sword against them and invite them to a duel for supremacy, this has always been a source of pride and has ingrained itself in our army’s national consciousness. Yet we were no fools; we knew what the implications of such ideals would mean for us, as long as we kept our ethics and ambitions close to our heart, we would be targeted, we would make enemies and foes even in places where they theoretically should not exist, but we accepted this proposition with great enthusiasm and determination.
When we came back to the community in May 2023, we were very confident with the opportunities that lied ahead of us, the contrast between this new, reformed CPA to the one we left in early 2020 was astonishing, it was functional, it’s rules were well defined, it’s constituent armies were diverse and civil, it seemed perfect, and we were hopeful to be part of that. That is until the cracks started showing and revealed an organization filled with double standards, hypocrisy and schadenfreude. Once again our ideals and ambitions came into play, whether intentional or not, to do something about this corruption, to mold and fix the mistakes we have identified in this great Leviathan, but alas, like we did earlier this year, our burdens surged from ashes, and painted a big target on our backs.
A couple days ago, our leaders and Consuls were informed of the existence of a secret cabal consisting of former and current TCP and ACP leaders Xing, Dawn, Calgo and Coolguy and PIC leaders Shallissa and Sidie, Rowan Alden, as well as head judge Spotty. All united in a perverse goal to sabotage and slander our army as well as our founder and ex-leader Edu14463; The reaction amongst the leaders and advisors was one of disappointment and anger, but in all honesty, none of us were surprised, after all, almost every single one of these people have past grievances against EGCP or have their own agenda against us. It ranges from Spotty’s one-sided rivalry with Edu, to Calgo and Coolguy’s fear of EGCP becoming the dominant superpower, to Sidie and Sha’s traitorous actions and false morality, doing everything to enforce their politics and views onto the rest of the community, and that’s not even to mention the TCP duo; Dawn and Xing, the latter of whom clearly still holds remorse for the days of old, when EGCP hunted down his multilog "army" like a buch of sheep through two entire years across multiple CPPSes, behind his façade of a changed person still lies that resentful petty little coward. we’ve been known to push around.
All of this culminated in a joint war declaration between four armies, each other whom made posts which rely on second hand information from former troops exiled from EGCP due to acts that endanger the children of our community that the very same armies that are villainizing us have embraced with open arms, as well as old screenshots and old-of-context messages that represent clearly a complete different sociocultural context from other armies. While we do admit our mistakes in those messages, as well as not condoning or endorsing them, it is clear that such exposés are not done out of genuine concern for EGCP’s actions or for the well-being of the community, but out of pure and unadulterated hate for the Elite Guardians and it’s ideals and ethics, which clearly differ from the liberalized and crystal views adopted by those individuals. This is further proved by their constant use of the Avalanche card, a CPPS that EGCP had relations with, and our main recruitment source, of which they claim to be a loophole which gives EGCP an unfair advantage, while it is factual that due to EGCP’s nature as the only Portuguese-speaking army that they’d have a monopoly on that part of the community, it wouldn’t be accurate to describe it as “unfair”, given that EGCP is simply seeking a way to connect itself and armies to the wider Club Penguin community, and that it’s sizes have remained stable at 20-25~ per event regardless of them being held in CPAv or not. The Guardian’s native language, while it does give them somewhat of an upper hand, does not make them untouchable or impossible to defeat, and it’s supposed partnership with CPAv did not inflate their sizes or influence to the point of reaching the same level as the Pirates of CPO, whose corruption and manipulation led EGCP to lead a community-wide exodus from that CPPS. In our view, the CPAv situation was nothing short of fair play, and if other armies were to take similar actions we would pay no mind. After all, if it extends the lifespan of the community, we’re all for it.
It is clear that Hobbes’s ideals, like this league, are destined to be buried under the sands of time, and that this Leviathan that is CPA seeks our end and destruction, as evidenced by the calls for us to be expelled and exiled from the community, as if we’re a bunch of irredeemable monsters the likes of whom can only be found in RFCP, to that we say: Too. Bad.
We’ve had enough of these foolish theatrics,we will not render or try to appease this scourge, they claim they want us to take accountability and apologize, but we know just how much a sincere apology means to them by how they treated our good ally and friend Shinzo after he was warned of the problematic content in his army’s server. We will acknowledge our issues and mistakes, yes, but we will also not back down and let ourselves be humiliated by their false morality. If those who play the drums of war wish to eliminate us for seeing us as a threat to their house of cards, then let them come, we are geared and prepared, and we will not tire out. We are the army of War, we will stand up, proud against the coming currents, for we have nothing to lose.
We can only hope that at the end of this tribulation, we can finally rejoice in constant jubilation and cry out: “Hail, O freedom! And long live the Guardians!”, for Babylon has fallen and her merchants will be shaken to their cores.
Sorte Vivve.
